Dr Steve Peters appointed to UK Athletics Performance Team
UK Athletics (UKA) has announced the appointment of renowned sports psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters to the UKA Performance team.
Dr Peters, who has spent the last decade working as an integral member of the successful British Cycling team, will work on driving forward the winning the sport, as well as focusing on selected athletes. He will also lead a team of handpicked sports psychologists who will work with all athletes on the World Class Performance Programme. World and Olympic Champions Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton have both credited Dr Peters with having played a significant role in their success.
Also joining the UKA sports psychology team is Chartered Psychologist Sarah Broadhead.
Don’t miss Dr Peters deliver his keynote speech at our North East & North West Branch conference on the 16 November at the Ethiad Stadium, Manchester. The conference “Back to the Future: Reflections and Implications Following the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games” will take a reflective stance on sports psychology, as well as explore its future.
Also speaking on a guest panel are former Olympian and world-class javelin coach, Mick Hill; Sky Sports Correspondent and former professional Rugby League player, Phil Clarke; archer for the GB Paralympic Team, Danielle Brown and Olympic 1500m Athlete, Laura Weightman.
