Clinical psychologists meet in Belfast
A meeting in Belfast is set to attract some of the country's leading clinical psychologists..
The annual Strategy Meeting of the British Psychogical Society's Division of Clinical Psychologiy gets underway today (9 June 2011) at Stormont in Belfast, with the lunchtime lecture to be delivered by Professor Peter Kinderman from the University of Liverpool, who is also the Chair of the Division.
Professor Chris McCusker, Chair of the Northern Ireland Division of Clinical Psychology, stated that psychological therapies and interventions are experiencing "unprecedented attention" from the government at the moment.
"This is because the evidence base ... shaped by many clinical psychologists ... and now disseminated to government ... highlights the huge importance and effectiveness of our science and therapies," he said.
Mental health issues, addiction and chronic illness in children are all set to be discussed at the strategy meeting.
