BPS event: Well-being of military personnel
Our Wessex Branch is holding a one-day conference at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst on the well-being of our military personnel and veterans on Thursday 15 November 2012. The keynote speaker is a leading figure in aspects of military health and Director of the King’s Centre for Military Health Research Unit, King’s College London, Professor Simon Wessely.
Chartered Psychologist Dr Kathryn Fielden and ex-Chair of the Branch said 'Some time ago we became aware of how much work was being undertaken in different areas by of a variety of organisations and independent practitioners within the Branch's geographical area. We saw an opportunity to share and develop understanding of key psychological applications and interventions that can be used to support the wellbeing of military personnel before, during and following deployment and for veterans thereafter.'
The conference will be of interest not only to clinical, counselling, health and occupational psychologists but also to military personnel and civilians working closely with the military (e.g. the NHS, charities, emergency & prison services).
