Psychs on Bikes to cross Australia
On 14 April 2012, around 50 motorcyclists will leave Cottesloe Beach in Perth, Western Australia and arrive nine days later at Bondi Beach in Sydney, having travelled 2600 miles.
All riders will be psychologists, psychiatrists, or mental health nurses and each will be raising money for a charitable cause related to rural and remote mental health. They call themselves Psychs on Bikes.
The ride traverses the immensity of the Australian outback from coast to coast including stops at small country towns. Wildlife such as kangaroos and emus will be encountered along the way.
Joe Dunn, a Psychiatrist and one of the Psychs on Bikes said: “I appreciate the support received so far for my mad Antipodean idea. This project started as a small project in a remote mining town in Western Australia but now seems to be on a roll!”
Any mental health professional who would like to join them is invited to get in touch.
