Less than 100 days until the biggest ever Paralympics
On 21 May the organisers marked 100 days until the start of the Paralympic Games, which the organisers of the event are calling the biggest ever. To celebrate this milestone the Paralympic logo has been projected onto the white cliffs of Dover, which is likely to stir excitement and drum up interest before proceedings get underway at the end of August.
It has been revealed that athletes representing 165 countries will be competing at the spectacle, which is 19 more than that seen at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.
The International Paralympic Committee also confirmed the number of participating athletes will also increase to around 4200.
Speaking to the BBC, multi-time Paralympic gold medal winner Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson noted anticipation among the general public for the games has fed off excitement for the Olympics, adding there is a genuine passion among the population for Paralympic events.
Baroness Grey-Thompson added: "It is a massive move for the Paralympic movement that so many tickets have been sold so far out."
