Honours awarded to two Society members

21 June 2017

We send our congratulations to the two British Psychological Society members included in the Queen’s birthday honours.

  • Professor Theresa Marteau is made a Dame for services to public health. As Director of the Behaviour and Health Research Unit at the University of Cambridge, she researches the effectiveness and acceptability of population and individual-level interventions to change behaviour.

  • Dr Melanie Bruce receives the OBE for services to children and families in Norfolk. A clinical psychologist, she works with Starfish Plus, which is a specialist service for children and young people with learning disabilities in the county.

We would also like to congratulate Tracey Brown, the director of Sense About Science, who has been awarded an OBE for services to science. The Society is a partner in several Sense About Science initiatives, including the Evidence Matters campaign.
