07 February 2018
The event marks LGBT history month and the 20th anniversary year of the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section and will be led by Dr Adam Jowett.
The talk will outline the recent history of LGBTQ psychology in the UK and consider the potential of focussing on LGBTQ history as a topic of social psychology research. How do we construct narratives of LGBTQ history? What do such narratives tell us about our society today and how are they mobilised to serve certain political ends?
Dr Jowett is a Senior Lecturer in social psychology at Coventry University and is current chair of the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section. His research focuses on LGBTQ issues such as LGBTQ health and the legal recognition of same sex relationships.
The event is free and open to everyone and is organised by the BPS West Midlands Branch. There is no need to book just turn up on the night.
Monday 12 February, 6:30pm-8:30pm, The Phoenix, 122 Gosford Street, Coventry, CV1 5DL.
