Formation of a Section in Disaster, Crisis and Trauma Psychology
Over the past 20 years, global news coverage has drawn attention to disasters and crises across the world.
In the UK, the government has evaluated the risks faced by the population from natural disasters, man-made disasters, civil unrest, terrorism and cyber attack. The Civil Contingency Act has created local "resilience" groups with the aim of mitigating risk and responding to the aftermath of serious incidents. Psychology has a great deal to contribute to all aspects of disaster management
The proposal to form a new Section in Disaster, Crisis and Trauma Psychology has been endorsed by the Board of Trustees. In compliance with the Charter Statutes and Rules, one per cent of the total membership is now required to show support for the formation of the Section.
You can register your vote in support of the proposal from this page.
