Welcome!

The Faculty for Children, Young People & their Families (CYPF) is a Member Network of the British Psychological Society's Division of Clinical Psychology. It is made up of clinical psychologists who specialise in working with children, young people and their families, although other professions may join as Associate members.

The Faculty currently has nearly 1,000 members.

Aims 

  • Promote the value of applied psychological principles and research to the world outside the profession, to influence and shape key policy around health, education and social care to improve the psychological well-being of children and families.

  • Supporting members to deliver high quality psychologically informed services for children, young people and families that have a positive impact on them throughout their lifespan.

Faculty Committee

The membership elects twelve members to form a National Faculty committee. The Faculty committee meets 3 times a year, plus an annual 2-day strategy meeting. The committee carries out the following tasks involving membership as fully as possible. 

  • Respond to requests from its members for information on matters relating to children's services and develop briefing papers where necessary 
  • Represents child clinical psychology to the Department of Health and other organisations relevant to health service planning. 
  • Develops professional guidance to support competent clinical practice.
  • Responds to public consultations on relevant health service issues
  • Liaises with regional groups, the faculty membership and other national bodies
  • Organises national conferences for clinical psychologists working with children.
  • Produces a Newsletter to keep the membership informed about relevant issues which relate to clinical child psychology and services for children.
