Undergraduate and Postgraduate Prizes in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer Psychology

The Lesbian and Gay Psychology Section of the BPS will award two prizes in 2008:

one for the best undergraduate essay or dissertation in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or Queer Psychology

one for the best postgraduate dissertation in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or Queer Psychology

Submissions can be in the form on any aspect relating to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or Queer Psychology. For a thesis it may be helpful to think about how it could be presented to avoid the need for attaching appendices (e.g. briefer section on methods and methodology). Most of the social science journals contain advice on their homepage that could provide guidance.

Postgraduate and undergraduate students registered in UK Universities who receive their degrees in either 2007 or 2008 are eligible to apply. Students need not be members of the BPS, or members of the Lesbian and Gay Psychology Section to apply.

Winners of each prize will receive:

A cash sum of £75

A prize-winner's certificate.

Either a year's free membership of the Lesbian and Gay Psychology Section or a year's free subscription to Lesbian and Gay Psychology Review

Winners will also be supported to travel to the Section's AGM in 2008 to receive their certificates.

To apply for the prize you will need to submit a copy by email (word or PDF format) to the email address below.

All entries must be received by on Monday 1st September 2008. In the email please include:

Your name, address and a contact telephone number (this will be used to inform entrants of the outcome)

The prize you are applying for

The title of your submission

Details of your university, the year you completed your course and if relevant the name of your supervisor(s)

All entries are to be submitted Damien Fitzgerald, Faculty of Development and Society, Sheffield Hallam University , d.fitzgerald@shu.ac.uk
