Title: A Key for Valid Uses of Tests: Making Test Score Reports More Understandable and User-Friendly

Ronald K. Hambleton holds the title of Distinguished University Professor and is Chairperson of the Research and Evaluation Methods Program and Executive Director of the Center for Educational Assessment at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the United States. He earned a B.A. in 1966 from the University of Waterloo with majors in mathematics and psychology, and an M.A. in 1968 and Ph.D. in 1969 from the University of Toronto with specialties in psychometric methods and statistics. Professor Hambleton has been teaching graduate-level courses in educational and psychological testing, item response theory and applications, classical test theory models and methods, and seminar courses on applied measurement topics at the University of Massachusetts since 1969. His current research interests are in the areas of large-scale assessment, applications of item response theory, computer-based testing, test adaptation methodology, and test score reporting. Professor Hambleton has been the recipient of several national and international awards for his measurement research, and he is a Past-President of the International Test Commission, the NCME, Division 5 of APA, and Division 2 of the IAAP, and currently he serves as the IAAP representative to the ITC Council. He is the co-editor of the recently published text by Erlbaum entitled, Adapting Educational and Psychological Tests for Cross-Cultural Assessment
