Dear Colleagues and Friends, On behalf of the International Test Commission (ITC) we are honoured to welcome you to the 6th ITC Conference in Liverpool in July 2008. The ITC was formally established in 1978 and its membership comprises national psychological associations, test commissions, publishers and other organizations, and individuals who are committed to promoting effective testing and assessment. The ITC is dedicated to facilitating the exchange of information internationally on problems related to the construction, distribution, and use of psychological tests and other psychodiagnostic tools. To help achieve these goals the ITC organises bi-annual conferences on various themes related to important and emerging topics in the area of testing and assessment. The Liverpool conference is the 6th event organised by the ITC and will consider the impact of testing on people and society. The main goal of the conference is to bring together researchers, educators, psychologists, policy experts, testing specialists and those who use tests on a regular basis to discuss how the testing community can enhance the value of test use. The conference will address methodological, technical, professional and ethical issues in relation to policy and practice issues within testing. We look forward to welcoming you to the new BT Convention Centre in the European City of Culture (2008) and invite you to contribute to the scientific programme and participate in the wonderful entertainment we have on offer. We are convinced that the 6th ITC conference will be a stimulating, valuable and enjoyable experience for all. ITC Council 2008 Conference organising committee: Dr Iain Coyne, Prof Dave Bartram, Dr Jan Bogg, Prof Marise Born
