With Dr Greg Madison
The presentation will include descriptions and definitions of the behaviour. It will cover aetiology. Time will be given to historical antecedents, neuroscience, parallels in psychoanalytic theory, CBT treatment interventions, group work and outcome studies. If time allows, the presentation will consider cross addiction and comorbid disorders. The latter are normally treated using CBT protocols. CBT has the best evidence base for effective treatment for this and adjacent disorders. CBT therapists are well placed to deal with these kinds of problematic behaviours.
Refreshments will be available.
