Supervision Skills for Counselling Psychologists 2

This two-part training provides a comprehensive overview to the theory and practice of supervision for supervisors and supervisees. This training is specifically for psychologists engaged in psychotherapeutic work.

For information, including the date of the first part of this training, please see Supervision Skills for Counselling Psychologists 1.

We are moving away from a culture whereby supervisors practise by virtue of experience or seniority alone.

Increasingly, governing bodies are moving towards a more formalised registration of recognised supervisors who are required to have undertaken professional training in supervision. This 2 part supervision course addresses relational and process issues alongside practical and organisational concerns.

It is hoped that supervisors, or would-be supervisors, will be helped to develop, reflect on and refine their own personal practice, consistent with their therapeutic approach, the context in which they work, and their client group(s). Feedback from previous delegates has stressed how valuable this course has been also for their development as supervisors.

Learning outcomes and objectives

  1. To define and understand tasks and potentials of supervision.
  2. To outline a process model of supervision.
