The DCP’s Pre-Qualification Group presents Professor Tony Lavender and Dr Jan Hughes who will discuss the future of clinical psychology: training funding and leadership.

With the NHS changing, there are challenges facing the future of clinical psychology training. Professor Tony Lavender and Dr Jan Hughes will discuss the latest on the changes that are occurring and what this means for the commissioning of clinical psychology training.

In the afternoon there will be a workshop focusing on developing leadership skills. The need to develop non-therapy skills as well as clinical skills is becoming increasingly paramount, and these can and should be developed at a pre-qualification level. We will explore how leadership skills are needed not only to cope with change in the NHS but to help shape its future.

The Pre-Qualification group aims to enable attendees to develop a supportive and resourceful community within the profession, one that is united in thriving along the way to becoming clinical psychologists and beyond.

Who is the course intended for?

Those with an interest in the future of clinical psychology training. It is worth noting that the day will primarily be aimed at those at a pre-qualification level i.e. Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Research Assistants, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Support Workers, Nursing Assistants, Undergraduate, Postgraduate psychology students etc.
