Introduction

We are excited to bring you an inaugural British Psychological Society meeting on "Psychology and Human Rights" - held in parallel with the BPS Quinquennial Conference in Manchester. This half day event is free of charge, to members and non-members of the BPS.

The meeting will address:

  • The relevance of human rights to psychology - Professional involvement and the possible impact on the profession
  • Psychological perspectives on human rights - Personal autonomy and communitarian relationships; Universal and culture specific perspectives
  • Taking a stand - what should psychologists be saying and doing? What role should a professional and learned body have? Do psychologists have permission to speak out?
