The Neil O'Connor Award 2006
The 2006 Neil O'Connor Award was awarded to Elizabeth Pellicano for her outstanding publication in Development and Psychopathology.
The article investigates the value of "weak" central
coherence (WCC), involving an unusually large sample of children with autism. The research is extremely rigorous, it is theoretically motivated, data are competently analysed and the conclusion are eminently sensible. The article has very good conceptual clarity and the findings do great service to the research community, advancing our understanding of autism. This is a field of research which is prone to confusion and Pellicano’s study helps to reduce that confusion.
