Division of Occupational Psychology Student Prize 2008

Call for Submissions

As part of the Society’s commitment to encouraging students to enter the profession of occupational psychology, we will be presenting three student awards for 2008.

The three awards are:

1st Award:
£1000 and free daily admission to the DOP Conference 2009, plus up to £150 towards travel and accommodation.
2nd Award:
£750 and free daily admission to the DOP Conference 2009, plus up to £150 towards travel and accommodation.
3rd Award:
£500 and free daily admission to the DOP Conference 2009, plus up to £150 towards travel and accommodation.

The awards will be made to those students submitting project outlines (past, or present) which, in the opinion of a panel of distinguished academic and practitioner judges, make the most valuable contribution to the field of occupational psychology in the 21st century. In the case of current projects, these must have commenced and have at least preliminary findings.

Submissions are welcome from under-graduates, post-graduates and doctorate students who are, or have been, on a Society-accredited course or programme of study. Submissions should consist of a succinct summary of the project (approximately 2,000 words) with a clear indication of what has been achieved. If required, the judges may later ask for data to substantiate your findings. You should also include an explanation of why the project is worthy of consideration. At the top of your submission please list contact details for you and the name and contact details of your supervisor for the project.

The presentation of the awards will take place at the DOP Annual Conference. All students should ensure that they are able to attend the conference if successful.

This year’s prizes are jointly sponsored by the DOP, Pearn Kandola, RHR International and SHL.

Closing date for submissions is 31 October 2008. Winners will be notified by early December. Submissions should be sent Helen Barnett (helen.barnett@bps.org.uk)
