Occupational Psychology F.I.R.S.T.
Developing Our Future
The Division of Occupational Psychology has undertaken a major project that assessed and developed the occupational psychology knowledge and practice base. The project was run by a consortium made up of SHL, 5S Consulting Ltd and Queen's University Belfast, in collaboration with a DOP Steering Committee. The OP - F.I.R.S.T. Project addressed the following key priorities:
Future: What are the main challenges we need to meet? How has this changed? How will it change in future? What are the implications?
Identity: What are the unique skills and knowledge bases that make OP what it is? How can we strengthen this identity?
Recognition: How can OP continue to be recognised as a field that can offer unique insights, understanding and solutions to organizations and the individuals within them?
Standards: How can we ensure that standards are kept rigorous, current, and in line with international developments in the profession?
Talent: How can we ensure that talent is managed most effectively, from the moment individuals start on the route to become an OP, through to their continued membership of their Division?
The results of the project have now been published in a Final Report.
