Ann Read is a chartered occupational psychologist and an Associate Dean in the Technology Faculty at Southampton Institute.
Ann gained her first degree in Occupational Psychology from UWIST and her first MSc in Work Design and Ergonomics from Birmingham. She then worked in research and development in the defence industry for a number of years for such companies as British Aerospace, Sperry Giroscope, and Marconi Command and Control Systems and was active in the Ergonomics Society. Ann then moved to work for Digital for 6 years. At this stage Ann decide a career change was called for and joined Portsmouth University as a lecturer in Occupational Psychology. Ann subsequently moved to Southampton Institute in 2000, where she is today. During her working career Ann has also gained a MSc in Personnel Management from Portsmouth (and become a member of the Institute of Personnel Development) and a Doctorate of Education from Southampton University looking at the impact of Investors in People in Higher Education.
