Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people with acquired brain injury; could your career be enhanced by experiencing and shaping a service which has developed particular expertise in working with people who have an acquired brain injury?

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic qualified clinical psychologist who is highly motivated and innovative Chartered Clinical Psychologist. Experience in post-acute brain injury services is desirable, although not essential.


Momentum offers the successful candidate:


  • Band 7-8a NHS equivalent £29,798 - £39,273 p.a. dependent on experience

  • 50% of funding provided for postgraduate workshops and MSc/Diploma in clinical neuropsychology or psychological therapy training

As a valued member of our multi-disciplinary team you will work with psychologists, job coaches and tutors, from our regional centre of vocational rehabilitation for working-aged survivors of ABI.


Main Duties include:


  • Clinical lead for our Psychology services
  • Provision of individual psychological therapy and cognitive rehabilitation interventions based on neuropsychological assessment and psychological formulation
  • Oversee and guide the Psychology team in delivering the psycho-educational group sessions within the programme
  • Provide clinical supervision and psychological consultation to Occupational and Assistant Psychologists
  • Provide advice and guidance to the team
  • Contribute to the continual development of the service and in-service training in line with best practice guidelines
  • Support for services users

Salary and responsibilities will be negotiable dependent upon experience, and we welcome applications from trainees due to qualify or just qualified this year.

A recently or newly qualified Clinical Psychologist is required for six months (with a possibility of extension) for an established specialist community neuropsychology department working with adults with Acquired Brain Injury. Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury predominate, at:

ICANHO
The Suffolk Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre

Icanho is a purpose-built, non-residential, community-based service. You would be a part of a specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, and providing assessment and treatment to people with acquired brain injury. The interdisciplinary team itself has many years experience of brain injury and consists of neuropsychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and social worker, supported by rehabilitation assistants. Regular clinics are held on-site by consultant medical staff and there is a rehabilitation co-ordinator position. The manager is also from a clinical therapy background.


The service is part of the national charity, Livability, and supplies services to PCTs, Social Care and individual agencies. It is entrepreneurial and keen to develop new ways of working for this client group. The service is developing stronger links with academic institutions, research forums and has students/trainees from all disciplines.


This is an excellent opportunity for a good team worker, and previous experience (or an interest) in neuropsychology is desirable. You will be working alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and will receive regular training and supervision. The work will include neurocognitive assessments as well as individual and group therapy. You will have opportunities to work with clients’ families and support workers where necessary.

HOURS: Full time 37.5 hrs per week

PERIOD: Fixed Term Contract - 6 months (with possible extension)

SALARY: Circa £29,800
