Neuropsychological Impact of Health Conditions (Friday 4th September, 2009, London)
This one-day conference is a joint event organised by the Divisions of Neuropsychology and Health Psychology, providing an opportunity to hear about current work relating cognition and behaviour to health conditions. The content includes consideration of a range of clinical conditions that may have relevance to neuropsychologists, health psychologists, clinical psychologists and others with a specialist interest in health and cognition. The presentations will consider empirical findings, conceptual and methodological approaches that will increase understanding of the complex interface between physical conditions, cognition and psychological health/well-being.

Forthcoming Post-qualification Training Day
Relational Approaches to Rehabilitation Following Acquired Brain Injury (27th November, 2009, London)
This post-qualification training day is an opportunity to bring together clinicians who prioritise relationships, the relational, interpersonal and social in their neuro-rehabilitative work. The content material will encourage clinicians to think differently about both traditional concepts and new challenges within community ABI services. BPS Division of Neuropsychology Post-qualification Training Day
"Neuropsychology of Language Disorders in Adult Acquired & Progressive Neurological Disorders"

This Post-Qualifying Training day aims to provide the novice and experienced practitioner with an overview of current perspectives on the neuropsychology of language (and speech) dysfunction in the context of acquired and progressive neurological conditions. It will bridge the gap between statistical models and cognitive neuropsychology models of aphasia. Included in this event, will be an account of the latest developments in research on these conditions and how it has informed our understanding of language and cognition and its impact on social function.
This PQT event will be particular suited to those who work in the Older people sector, Specialist Neurological Diagnostic and Rehabilitation services, Community Neurorehabilitation Services and Stroke Units.

Understanding and Treating Epilepsy

This is a CPD event organised jointly between the Wales Neuropsychology Special Interest Group and BPS Division of Neuropsychology. It is aimed at Clinical Neuropsychologists and Clinical Psychologists but may be of relevance to other professional groups interested in epilepsy.

"Neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan"

This is the first training day to be jointly organised by the BPS Division of Neuropsychology and the newly formed Section of Neuropsychiatry of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCP). We have chosen a topic of interest to both neuropsychologists and neuropsychiatrists, whether working in child and adolescent or in adult mental health services.
The effects of ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders in childhood are generally well recognised. We want to focus on what happens when the child with these neurodevelopmental disorders becomes an adult. This CPD event will cover aetiology, psychological processes, treatment and service provision.
Note: This PQT day incorporates the Division of Neuropsycholog Annual General Meeting which will be held during the lunch break.

"Neuropsychological Toxicology"

Neuropsychological toxicology is a CPD event aimed at clinical neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists and others interested in the effects of toxicity on health, cognition and behaviour. The event will feature an international expert from the USA and author of the book ‘Neuropsychological Toxicology’, Dr David Hartman. Leading national figures will also contribute to the programme, presenting up to date research, assessment findings and treatment suggestions. The areas to be addressed include: neuropsychological effects of heavy metals, recreational drugs, alcohol, carbon monoxide, organophosphates, chemical sensitivity and battlefield toxins. ‘Neuropsychological Toxicology’ will provide a unique opportunity for delegates to gain insight into these conditions which regularly crop up in routine neuropsychological practice, from top experts in the field.
