Update on the Training of Educational Psychologists

Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology (DECPsy) 2007-2010

Changes to EP Post-graduate Training

In 2006 all post-graduate training programmes in Educational Psychology became 3 year professional doctorates. This replaced the old post-graduate route to chartered status, which required two years qualified teaching experience - a one year accredited masters degree in educational psychology and one year of supervised practice, by someone eligible for chartered status.

All accredited masters courses in educational psychology ceased at the end of August 2006.

Please visit www.cwdcouncil.org.uk for details about the application process for funded EP training places now open.

A pre-requisite to entry on to an accredited training programme requires candidates to obtain the Graduate Basis for Chartered Member - details of which can be found under the Careers section of the Society's website: www.bps.org.uk/careers/areas/educational.cfm
