About the Division

  • Are you a qualified clinical psychologist?
  • Are you training to become a clinical psychologist?
  • Are you presently working as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS and do you want to train as a Clinical Psychologist?

If so, you should seriously consider joining the Division of Clinical Psychology of The British Psychological Society.

The majority of clinical psychologists are members of the Division of Clinical Psychology. It is the organisation which is wholly devoted to furthering the development of clinical psychology, both as a body of knowledge and skills and as a profession.

Why should I join the Division of Clinical Psychology?

  • Your professional status will be easily recognised by employing authorities and other professional bodies because every member's qualifications are checked before membership of a particular category is given

  • You will receive Clinical Psychology Forum and other occasional documents, which will keep you informed of current events and issues of importance to the profession. You will also be given the chance to join the Division's eBulletin list. This list was designed to allow Committee members to send out email documents and announcements to all members.

  • You automatically become a member of your local branch of the Division and you can participate in the business and scientific meetings of the branch with consequent professional benefits of involvement at a local level

  • You can be nominated to serve on the national committee, or on your branch committee, or on sub-committees and working parties of the Division.

  • You will receive full access to our website

  • You will be able to join our various Faculties

  • If you are a Chartered Psychologist, you are entitled to use the specialist term 'Clinical' and refer to yourself as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist

  • Your membership will increase the representation of the Division, and enable it to press with more weight for changes to benefit the profession and its members
