The faculties aims are to:

• Foster effective psychological services and practise for people with addictions.
  
• Raise awareness of psychological issues in Addiction
  
• Provide a forum for the presentation and discussions of issues, experiences and findings in Addiction work
  
• Facilitate communication and support among psychologists and other professionals working in this field
  
• Promote psychological research which enhances the lives of people affected by Addictions
  
• Advice and influence relevant organisations and policy about the psychology of people affected by Addiction issues.
  
• Liaise with other professional bodies having similar interests
  
• Acting as a source of expertise to the DCP concerning matters relating to Addiction
