How to Join

Would you like to get more involved with the DCoP?

We are looking for enthusiastic chartered and trainee counselling psychologists to join the Committees that make up the Division. We are an evolving profession, so there is lots of opportunity to contribute to our future. Please look out for Nomination forms which are usually circulated around February each year, prior to the AGM in May.

The committee meets approx 6 times a year, usually in London and the Division will contribute to travel expenses. Meetings are rotated between Saturdays, Fridays and Mondays.

The Division has three categories of membership;

1. Full : all of whom must be eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist.

2. General Member: any Member of the Society who is not eligible for Full or In Training grade of membership;

3. In Training: Any member with GBR who is working towards registration as a Counselling Psychologist.

Chartered Psychologists who are Full Members of the Division of Counselling Psychology are entitled to use the specialist term 'Counselling' and to refer to themselves as Chartered Counselling Psychologists.

If you require information on training as a counselling psychologist, you may e-mail: student@bps.org.uk. If you have any other enquiry relating to the Division of Counselling Psychology, please contact the BPS Helpdesk (Tel: 0116-254-9568), or write to:
