Conference Description

Division of Forensic Psychology Annual Conference 23rd-25th June 2009

The Division of Criminological & Legal Psychology, founded in 1977, was renamed the Division of Forensic Psychology in 1999. The Division exists to represent the interests of the increasing number of psychologists whose work involves the Criminal and Civil Justice systems. The Division draws its membership from a broad range of psychologists working within/across a range of locations such as Prisons, Secure Hospitals, Probation, Courts, Community Settings, Social Services, Universities and the Police.

The 2009 conference aims to reflect the eclectic nature of the Division of Forensic Psychology and embrace the many areas of research and practice of interest to the Division, as well as supporting the importance of networking to enhance multi-disciplinary/agency working. Hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology, School of Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire, the conference will cover themes including sex offenders, general aggression, stalking and facial composites.

The conference will include a conference dinner hosted by Heathcotes, with pre-dinner reception and entertainment. For delegates with extra time, surrounding areas such as the Lake District, Liverpool and Manchester can be easily reached. We look forward to welcoming you to the City of Preston.

Who should attend?

The conference will be of interest to a range of delegates whose practice includes coverage of forensic issues and/or who are studying forensic psychology as a discipline. Thus the conference will be of interest to psychologists, psychiatrists, solicitors, barristers, police, social workers, academics, researchers and students etc.
