Division of Counselling Psychology Annual Conference 2009 - Warwick

Organised by BPS Conferences
Start Date: 09, July, 2009       End Date: 11, July, 2009 << back
Conference Description

Riding the Tide - Counselling Psychology Goes Forward

2009 is likely to be a time of great upheaval for Counselling Psychology, as it is for all "talking" therapies. Registration, and the consequent changes in the Society itself will affect us all. The challenge is to maintain that which is good by whatever means available to us, and to recognise and seize new opportunities to make improvements for our clients and for the profession. This won’t be easy, but a young profession is best placed to adapt and fulfill new roles. This year could be one in which we stumble without direction, or one in which we evolve our own distinctive identity purposefully and courageously. This conference is designed to play its part in that process.

We are delighted to annouce our four keynote speakers who will contribute enourmously to the event:

  • Mick Cooper, Professor of Counselling at the University of Strathclyde, and co-Director of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Glasgow Caledonian University/University of Strathclyde, currently seeking accreditation
  • Diane Hammersely, Private Practice and member of many key DCoP committees and author of many DCoP documents
  • Stephen Joseph, Professor of Psychology, Health and Social Care, Centre for Trauma, Resilience and Growth, University of Nottingham
  • Phil Mollon, Head of Clinical Psychology, Stevenage Hospital
