Postgraduate bursaries

   

BPS Cognitive section Postgraduate bursary.

The BPS Cognitive Section committee aims to provide financial support in order for eligible postgraduates to present a poster or paper at the Annual conference.

Eligibility:

i.) Applicants should check that they comply with eligibility requirements, as these are strictly adhered to. Applicants who do not meet eligibility requirements will be excluded from the competition.

ii.) Applicants must be registered for postgraduates research degree at UK or Republic of Ireland institution.

iii.) Applicants must be postgraduate members of the BPS Cognitive Section.

iv.) Applications must be accompanied by a formal supporting letter from their supervisor (on Department headed paper).

*** Please note that awards are prioritised to favour of those who have not previously received a Cognitive Section bursary.

Value: The value of the award is £250 per successful applicant. Awards will contribute towards registration, accommodation at the conference venue, and/or travel to the conference.

Application: Closing date for applications will be announced closer to the conference. Applications should be made by letter to the Dr Viv Moore, BPS Cognitive Section Treasurer. Psychology Department, Whitehead Building, Goldsmiths College, University of London, New Cross, London SE14 6NW. APPLICATIONS BY EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Applications should contain the following information:

1. Full contact details of applicant, including email address.
2. A copy of the abstract submitted to the conference
3. BPS membership number (or confirmation that membership has been sought with date). For information on how to join the BPS click here.
4. Statement as to membership of the Cognitive Section, evidence of membership. For information on how to join the BPS Cognitive Section, click here.
5. Details of travel costs (if applicable)
6. Details of accommodation costs, preferably a photocopy of the accommodation form.
7. Signed supporting statement from student's supervisor
8. A cover letter from the application containing any other relevant information

Further Conditions:
  • Retrospective applications will not be considered
  • The number of bursaries available each year will depend on resources, and award of a bursary cannot be guaranteed, even if requirements for eligibility have been met.
  • Decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding unsuccessful applications.
  • Successful applicants will only be reimbursed following submission of proof of conference attendance.
