Clinical Neuropsychology
What is Clinical Neuropsychology?
Neuropsychology is concerned with the assessment and rehabilitation of people with brain injury or other neurological disease. Neuropsychologists work with people of all ages with neurological problems, which might include traumatic brain injury, stroke, toxic and metabolic disorders, tumours and neuro-degenerative diseases.

What qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology does the Society offer?
The Society offers the Practioner Full Membership Qualification (PFMQ) which accords Practitioner Full Membership of the Division of Neuropsychology. The objective of the qualification is to establish a standard of practice in clinical neuropsychology which will assure possession of the essential skills and underpinning knowledge for the expert and professional application of psychology in this field.
Candidates must elect to undertake the Membership Qualification in one of its two forms:
- Adult Clinical Neuropsychology
- Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychology
or they may opt to work towards both disciplines via dual qualification.

Who is the Society qualification for?
In order to be eligible to enrol for the adult clinical neuropsycholgy qualification an applicant must provide evidence that they:
- have acquired the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) in the British Psychological Society; and
- are registered as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist.
In order to be eligible to enrol for the paediatric clinical neuropsycholgy qualification an applicant must provide evidence that they:
- have acquired the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) in the British Psychological Society; and
- are registered as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist or as a Chartered Educational Psychologist.
Events
The Board of Assessors offer supervisor workshops for approved supervisors or those who are considering becoming supervisiors for PFMQ candidates.
