Training Committee Information

The Quality Assurance (QA) team supports the work of ten committees, as outlined below.

Undergraduate

  • Graduate Qualifications Accreditation Comittee (GQAC)
GQAC is responsible to the Psychology Education Board (PEB) for policy matters but has the authority to directly grant accreditation.

GQAC’s work is underpinned by the policies and benchmark thresholds contained in the Quality Assurance Policies and Practice for First Qualifications in Psychology document.

Postgraduate

  • Clinical: Committee on Training in Clinical Psychology (CTCP)
  • Clinical Neuro: Committee for Training in Clinical Neuropsychology (CTCN)
  • Counselling: Training Committee for Counselling Psychology (TCCP)
  • Educational: Division of Educational and Child Psychology Training Committee (DECPTC) (covering England, Northern Ireland and Wales)
  • Educational (Scotland): Scottish Division of Educational Psychology Training Committee (SDEPTC)
  • Forensic: Division of Forensic Psychology Training Committee (DFPTC)
  • Health: Division of Health Psychology Training Committee (DHPTC)
  • Occupational: Division of Occupational Psychology Training Committee (DOPTC)
  • Sport and Exercise: Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology Training Committee (DSEPTC)

These Committees are responsible to the Membership and Professional Training Board (MPTB). They make recommendations to the Board regarding accreditation of programmes.

Each training Committee devises accreditation criteria specific to the branch of applied psychology to which it relates. In addition, the work of the Training Committees is underpinned by the Quality Assurance Policies and Practice for Postgraduate Training document.
