Learning Centre and CPD

The BPS Learning Centre is the Society’s training and development portal.

It provides learning and continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to support psychologists and those working in related fields with their professional development. These include e-learning courses, workshops and events.

CPD Approval Scheme

The CPD Approval Scheme is the Society’s model of approving programmes or events (including workshops, lectures, symposia and conferences), that meet our standards. It enables CPD providers, including Higher Education Institutions to have programmes or events that are of relevance to psychology and/or psychologists approved. This will include programmes that do not relate to the full standards for accreditation through partnership, but which may be of interest to qualified and aspiring psychologists.

Approved programmes or events may use the ‘CPD Approved’ logo. The logo is only to be used by programmes or events that are approved by the Society and must not be used by those that are not approved or are in the process of seeking approval. Approved programmes or events are approved for the purposes of continuing professional development.

For more information on our standards or the approval process have a look at our CPD Approval Scheme document.

Information on current providers of approved CPD can be found on the Learning Centre website.

MyCPD

Our online system, myCPD, provides a structured framework for planning and recording CPD. Members can use the system to record their needs and activities, and print reports to meet CPD requirements of an employer or regulator.

Access myCPD online planning and recording system.

Next year the myCPD will be improved through a number of enhancements designed to make it easier for members to plan and record their professional development.

If you are a member of the Society, the BPS Learning Centre would appreciate your feedback on the current myCPD system and any improvements you would like to see in the future.  To provide your feedback, all you need to do is fill out a short web form.

e-Learning

A number of online CPD modules are available for you to complete at your own pace from anywhere with internet access, whether that be your office, on a train or the comfort of your sofa, making them ideal for people who find it difficult to travel to events.

The modules have been designed to suit all learning styles and because they are done online it means you can spend 20 minutes here or an hour working on them.

Take a look at our e-Learning section for more information and a list of available courses.

CPD resources

The BPS Learning Centre provides useful information and guidance on CPD and professional development.

Psychologists registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) will be required to maintain an ongoing record of their CPD in order to renew their registration, Further information on the HPC CPD requirements can be found on their website.
