The British Psychological Society is the learned Society and professional body for psychologists in the UK, is incorporated by Royal Charter, and celebrated its Centenary in 2001. The Society aims to encourage the development of psychology, improve standards of training and practice, raise public awareness and increase the influence of psychological practice in society. With a membership of over 45,000 and 120+ staff mainly in Leicester, new opportunities are continually being created within our team.

Journals Publishing Coordinator

Based: Leicester
Salary: £18.4 - 21K pa

Job Description: Journals Publishing Coordinator job description

The Society is seeking a Journals Publishing Coordinator to join the in-house support team for its 11 scientific journals, which constitute a major part of our international reputation and income. The postholder will be responsible for all stages of the editorial and production process for several journals. This includes administration of the peer review process (using a specialist online manuscript-tracking database) and liaison with journal Editors, authors, reviewers as well as external suppliers to deliver journal issues on time and within budget. You will assume responsibility for proofreading and collating journal issues as well as updating the journals website using our in-house web content management system. There will also be the opportunity to get involved with a variety of marketing activities.

Strong administrative/production skills and familiarity with IT are required. Attention to detail, communication skills, and self-motivation are essential. Exposure to modern (preferably academic journals) publishing is desirable.
