Getting research published

Professor Douglas Carroll

This workshop will consider how to get research published in the best possible peer-review journals. It will attempt to provide insights gleaned from the perspectives of a seasoned researcher and an experienced editor. Topics covered will include: understanding the research, its strengths and limitations; framing and presenting scientific narratives; selecting appropriate journal(s); formatting manuscripts; interpreting the journal’s response to a submission; interpreting editorial decisions; responding to the comments of editors and reviewers; revising manuscripts. Examples of good practice will be offered and, hopefully, participants will emerge with a clear sense of what to do and what not to do.
